PHILOSOPHY OF ACTION :

Partnership, networking and equity remain at the heart of our philosophy of action.

HISTORY OF THE ORGANISATION

In Africa, grassroots organisations are isolated and desperately need information and training in management and problem - solving methodology. In Chad, Cameroon, Central African Republic there are many initiatives and projects but, unfortunately collaboration and information exchange is not systematically promoted among these groups. From time to time one had to reinvent the wheel. Which is time and ressource consuming.

The Coordinator of Partnership attended many meetings and workshops and began to sensitize local NGOs and grassroots on information sharing in sustainable development. Because of the interest raised, a network was set up in 1996 and incorporated in July 1987 for a private non profit making organisation . In that capacity, the organisation undertook a feasibility study in order to establish a consortium of NGOS in central African Republic and coordinated that work for 18 months. Back in Cameroon since November 1989, the Coodinator of Partnership participated in many workshops where people confirmed the need of linkages among organisations, individuals and the society in general.

One particular aspect of this is the lack of linkages between producers and consumers, people's participation in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of environmental and sustainable development programmes is extremely difficult. How can this be done without dialogue, consulation and communication among all interested parties ?

But how can an organisation do this with its community ? How can organisations learn from one other, analyse common problems, exchange experience ? How can consumers and producers work together towards common ends ?

New methods and techniques have to be learned, group dynamics used.
To foster collaborative efforts in order to bring needs and resources close together, an independent non-profit making organisation called " PARTNERSHIP MANAGEMENT AND SUPPORT PROGRAM " was formed on January 2nd 1990 and incorpored in November of the same year.
